Best Morrisons Wines

September 2, 2021

If you're looking for great quality wines at an affordable price, Morrisons is well worth paying attention to. Their wine range is always growing and caters for a range of budgets - from an impressive collection of wines under £10, to higher end classics at (still reasonable) prices. "The Best" collection, in particular, is full of wonderful wines; we've featured three bottles from this range in our round up of the best wines from Morrisons.

It's worth noting, too, that as popularity around different styles and regions grows, Morrisons are quick to get on board. We recently tried their English Sparkling Wine alongside the pricier Nyetimber Classic Cuvée on our YouTube channel - and the Morrisons bottle was the real winner.

It can be tricky to navigate the supermarket aisles, and to find a bottle that really delivers for the price. Supermarket own label wines are usually a signifier of quality, as they are willing to put their name on the label so they'll want to ensure quality. If you're new to Morrisons wines, give the three best wines we've selected here a try.

What are the best wines from Morrisons?

Best Morrisons Red Wine: Negroamaro

For lovers of a deep red wine with plenty of dark fruit and peppery notes, Morrisons's The Best Negroamaro is really just that. This red is the taste of an Italian holiday at a reasonable price. Enjoy with a barbecue in the sun, or with grilled meats indoors if the weather doesn't quite permit it. Smooth, fruity and with an exceptional body, we think you'll be going back to purchase another bottle (or two). Morrisons The Best Negroamaro (£7.25)

Best Morrisons White Wine: Muscadet

We first tasted this muscadet sur lie back in February - we can confirm this zesty white wine all but transported us to the seaside. 'Sur lie' means it's been aged on lees - which are yeast particles that give wine a fuller creaminess. The proximity of the Atlantic Ocean to the area in the Loire Valley where Muscadet is made is reflected in the salinity and citrusy characteristics of this wine. Enjoy with seafood, or soak up the seaside vibes with a glass on its own. Morrisons The Best Muscadet Serve et Maine Sur Lie (£8)

Best Morrisons Sparkling Wine: The Best Brut

Another wine from Morrisons's The Best range - and it's another winner. Decanter recently gave this Brut '95' points; considering this costs almost half the price of a big house Champagne, it's worth a try. This is rich and elegant with a fine mousse and lovely long finish. Apple crumble and citrusy flavours with a toastiness to it, it's a winner in the Wine List's books). Need we say anymore? Morrisons The Best Brut Premier Cru Champagne (£21)
