Summer is now in full swing (flash flooding and thundery storms aside). When the sun is shining, meeting up with friends in the park is a great summer activity. We've previously shared our tips for finding the best park wines, but which parks are worth a visit? Here, we've compiled some of our favourite parks in the UK to visit and enjoy great wine.
Warwick Gardens, Peckham
Just round the corner from Peckham Rye, this park is a hidden gem - and a firm Wine List favourite. A must-visit for an after work meet up with friends on a sunny evening, it's where Josh first discovered the magic of park wine. More importantly, it's also where Josh first drank Coca-Cola cherry-esque Wine List best seller: L'Hurluberlu.
Roundhay Park, Leeds
Located in the outside skirts of Leeds city centre, Roundhay Park is one of the biggest city parks in Europe. Be sure to agree on a meet-up spot with friends to avoid getting lost. Complete with woodlands, gardens, lakes and an indoor tropical park, Roundhay Park is great for a full day out. Explore the sites, before cheers-ing with a glass of something special. Canned wine is a great lightweight alternative if you'll be on the go...
Primrose Hill, North London
Enjoy spectacular views of London from the top of Primrose Hill, which is over 60 metres above sea level. A favourite meet-up spot for groups of friends, and a local haunt of the area's many famous residents. Grab a bottle (a litre bottle of crunchy red, É Rosso, to share with friends), some glasses and settle in for an afternoon of sight (and star) seeing on this grassy summit.
Richmond Park, South-East London
Did you know you can view St Paul's Cathedral in Central London all the way from King Henry's Mount in Richmond Park? More importantly, though, Richmond Park is an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, without really leaving the city at all. Take a picnic, a bottle of something fizzy - an English sparkling like Dunleavy's Sparkling Red - and keep an eye out for the park's free roaming deer...
