Grüner veltliner is a little like a sauvignon blanc. High acidity, piercing flavour, but without the tropical fruits. Instead it makes a more savoury wine that's perfect for food. It's only found in Austria.
Burgenland is in the very East of Austria, on the border with Hungary. The huge Neusiedler lake moderates the temperature. Being so far inland, temperature changes would be extreme without it.
