There's so much flavour going on in this. Apricots, preserved lemon, mango and rose all mixed in with that classic bitter clay taste that you get from aging wine in qvevri. This is one of those wines you only need to chill for an hour so you can make the most of the flavours and textures.
This orange wine is made using traditional Georgian methods by Gocha and Khatia who worked in marketing and PR before buying untouched land and working it into a vineyard. The grape here is rkatsiteli rose, which translates as 'red horn' because of the pink tinge to it. "Almost magenta in colour, this is made from pink coloured grapes and left with skin contact to make it an 'orange' wine. Resulting in concentrated apricots, preserved lemon, mango and rose all mixed in with that classic bitter clay taste that you get from ageing wine in qvevri. Interesting and enjoyable in equal measures." IS
