I've always got a soft spot for blaufrankisch also known as zweigelt in other parts of Europe. This one is a delight. This is spicy and full of darker cherries all at a great ripeness. An excellent introduction to the grape.
The name of both this wine and winemaker comes from a love for Shakespeare. StephanO (the character) is a boisterous, drunken butler; Trinculo is the mischievous court jester. This Austrian blaufrankisch is spicy and full of dark cherries. Blaufrankisch is the parent grape of zweigelt. It's a hardy grape that can survive the cold climate in Austria, though the StephanO vineyard is to the east of the country and gets extra warmth. Try this for a great introduction to the grape.
